About Ari Betof
Based in Greater Philadelphia, Dr. Ari Betof is a co-founder and partner at Mission & Data, a new mission-centered, data-powered consulting firm that assists clients—particularly executives and boards of trustees in the education and the nonprofit worlds—with innovative, integrated solutions focused on leadership development, financial sustainability, fundraising, and governance. Formed as the result of a recent merger, Mission & Data blends the transformative leadership skill set that Dr. Ari Betof developed as the president of Organizational Sustainability Consulting, along with the complementary skills of co-founder and partner Kelsey Vrooman of Actionable Institutional Research & Data.
As the president of Organizational Sustainability Consulting, Dr. Betof worked with dozens of high-profile institutional clients. He leveraged his background in mathematics to provide quantitative solutions to long-standing problems, facilitated dozens of professional development events, and co-created a program that brought more than 30 organizations together to advise close to 2,000 trustees and senior institutional leaders working to weather the coronavirus pandemic.
Dr. Ari Betof earned a bachelor of science in mathematics and physics through the Guilford College Honors Program. He went on to receive his doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. Dr. Betof is now an MBA candidate and Emerging Markets Institute Fellow at Cornell University. He has contributed to strengthening the educational ecosystem throughout the country and internationally as a faculty member, institutional advancement director, head of school, and consultant. Dr. Betof also served as a senior advisor to the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Commission on International Education (CIE). Moreover, he has served as a lecturer at UPenn and as a curriculum design consultant and graduate-level mentor at Harvard University.
Dr. Ari Betof has served as a member of the board of directors of the Friends Council on Education and as a member of the school committee of the Newtown Friends School in the Philadelphia area.
He also serves as managing director for advancement of the Minerva Institute, a San Francisco-based higher education program dedicated to cultivating leadership and innovation. In this capacity, Dr. Betof works closely with the institute’s founder and board to direct its multi-million dollar fundraising, donor development, and ongoing stewardship plan.
